Zuck defends Quest 3 as a versatile computer, not just for gaming, amid Vision Pro criticism

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, recently shared his thoughts on the newly released Vision Pro on Threads. He expressed his belief that the Meta Quest 3 offers better value and is a superior product compared to Vision Pro. In response to a post by Benedict Evans, Zuckerberg further criticized Vision Pro, stating that if the Quest becomes similar to Vision Pro in 3-5 years, it would signify a significant regression in their technology. He emphasized that while Vision Pro may have higher resolution, it comes with trade-offs that make it inferior to the Quest in many aspects.

Zuckerberg also refuted the notion that Quest headsets are solely for gaming, pointing out that social apps like Horizon, VR Chat, and Rec Room are among the top apps for Quest. He highlighted the importance of resolution but argued that sacrificing ergonomics and motion blur for higher resolution may not be a clear win, especially when Quest’s resolution is already quite good.

It remains to be seen if Zuckerberg’s perspective on Vision Pro versus Meta Quest will hold up over time. However, his confidence in his beliefs is evident as he continues to stand by his opinions.
