Rare bourbon now at Costco

Looking for a rare bottle of whiskey? Before heading to the high-end specialty shop or scouring the big box liquor stores, consider checking out Costco. A shopper in Burbank, California recently found a bottle of Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon at Costco for just $56.89, a steal compared to prices elsewhere. This particular bourbon is highly sought after by collectors due to its unique production process and exceptional taste profile. Blanton’s was the first single-barrel bourbon ever commercially sold, starting in 1984, making it a favorite among bourbon enthusiasts. With tasting notes of nutmeg, vanilla, caramel, honey, and corn, it’s no wonder why Liquor Laboratory considers it one of the best bourbons available.
The scarcity of Blanton’s is partially due to its aging process, which is much longer than other whiskeys. Aged for six to eight years, this bourbon is a true gem. In 1999, Blanton’s introduced eight different stopper tops, each featuring a racehorse in a unique mid-motion pose. These stoppers have become a trademark of the brand, making it a favorite among collectors. Despite increased production, demand for Blanton’s still exceeds supply, creating a cycle of scarcity and popularity.
While finding Blanton’s at Costco may seem surprising, it’s not unheard of. Buffalo Trace Distillery, the producer of Blanton’s, typically limits purchases to one bottle every three months. However, some Costco locations have been known to carry this elusive bourbon. Keep an eye out at your local store for rare finds like the Macallan 1948 or the Singleton single malt scotch. Next time you’re at Costco, take a peek at the liquor section – you never know what treasures you might discover.
