Target has recently announced changes to their self-checkout kiosks, introducing what they call Express Self-Checkout. Customers can now only bring a maximum of 10 items to the self-checkout machine at most of their stores across the country. This change, which took effect on Sunday, aims to speed up the checkout process for customers. The company tested out Express Self-Checkout at 200 stores last year and found that self-checkout times were estimated to be twice as fast compared to their other stores. Customers who participated in the trial period reported that their overall checkout experience was better with this new system. Additionally, Target has opened more traditional checkout lanes with cashiers to accommodate customers with fuller shopping carts. These changes are part of Target’s efforts to improve the shopping experience for their customers.
