Nothing Phone (2a) gets a custom MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chip - 9to5Google

The latest Nothing Phone (2a) will feature a unique MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor, according to 9to5Google

The upcoming Nothing Phone (2a) is set to be released soon, with a focus on affordability. Unlike its predecessors, the Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2), which utilized Snapdragon processors from Qualcomm, the new budget device will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset. This mid-range chipset, which supports 5G, was announced almost a year ago and is built on the same 4nm process as current flagship Android chipsets.

Nothing has announced that the Nothing Phone (2a) will run on an updated version of the Dimensity 7200, co-engineered with MediaTek, called the “Dimensity 7200 Pro.” This new chip is said to be more efficient, with improvements in power draw from the display IC and modem, as well as the ability to implement “RAM Booster” for using up to 20GB of device storage as memory, and “Smart Clean” for optimizing write/read speeds.

Interestingly, Nothing’s co-founder, Carl Pei, had previously stated that the Phone (2a) would not be using the Dimensity 7200, although it is now clear that this was simply a teaser for the custom variant. The Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to launch in March with an estimated price of €349.

In addition, new renders of the Nothing Phone (2a) have been published by @OnLeaks in collaboration with SmartPrix, which are claimed to be accurate. These renders align with previous leaks found through Nothing’s own software a few months ago.
