In August 2022, the branding for Fitbit by Google shifted to simply Google Fitbit with the announcement of Sense 2 and Versa 4. Previously, the Fitbit by Google label was seen on the website, videos, and product packaging, including the Sense 2, Versa 4, and Charge 6 boxes. The Pixel Watch 2 packaging also featured a “with Fitbit” mention. Recently, the website updated to display Google Fitbit without the arrow logo, indicating a potential shift towards using the four-color “G” icon. The Fitbit wordmark was also updated to capitalize the “F” and utilize the Google Sans font.
The Google Store recently added a variety of Fitbit smartwatch and tracker accessories, leading to a renaming of the “Watches” category to “Watches & Trackers” with a revamped page layout. This change aligns with Google’s reorganization of its hardware division in January, moving towards a more functional organization that integrates Pixel, Nest, and Fitbit teams. This shift in structure also saw Fitbit co-founders and leaders depart from Google.
The integration of Fitbit into Google is now more visible externally, reflecting the consolidation of hardware engineering efforts across Pixel, Nest, and Fitbit. This change signifies a deeper alignment between the brands within Google’s hardware portfolio.
