Typos found on Kobe Bryant statue outside arena, team promises to correct

The Los Angeles Lakers announced that they will be correcting spelling errors on the Kobe Bryant statue unveiled outside the team’s arena last month. The errors include Toronto guard José Calderón being spelled as “Jose Calderson” and former Laker Von Wafer as “Vom Wafer.” Additionally, the word “decision” is misspelled as “decicion” on the statue.

The statue depicts Bryant with his index finger raised after his 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 22, 2006. This performance is the second-highest scoring game in NBA history, behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in 1962.

The 19-foot statue includes the scorecard from the Toronto game. No specific timeline was given for when the corrections will be made to the statue.
