100+ flights canceled, many more delayed at OIA because of weather and ‘airspace constraints,’ officials report

Over 100 flights were canceled at Orlando International Airport on Sunday, with hundreds more experiencing delays. According to the airport’s website, a total of 133 flights were canceled and 351 were delayed from 12:01 a.m. Sunday through 3 a.m. on Monday. Southwest Airlines accounted for 78 of the cancellations, while Frontier and Spirit had 18 and 17 cancellations, respectively. Among the delays, Southwest had 125, Frontier had 53, and Spirit had 36. Southwest Airlines officials attributed the travel disruptions to “widespread pop-up thunderstorms and airspace constraints across Florida” on Saturday. They assured customers that they were working to assist them through any delays and apologized for any inconvenience. Airport officials have been contacted for further information. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as they become available.
