Microsoft announced earlier this week that four of its previously exclusive games would be available on other consoles, specifically the PS5 and the Switch. These included two multiplayer titles (“Sea of Thieves” and “Grounded”) and two single-player titles (“Pentiment” and “Hi-Fi Rush”) that were over a year old. The company clarified that “Starfield” and the upcoming “Indiana Jones” game would not be making the leap to other platforms anytime soon, but they did not rule out the possibility of other games being released on different platforms in the future.
Despite this announcement, there has been ongoing speculation about the future of Microsoft’s games. A new report from The Verge (via VGC) suggests that Microsoft is considering releasing “Microsoft Flight Simulator” and the next “Doom” game on rival consoles. There have also been claims that “Gears of War” is being considered for release on non-Xbox platforms. However, final decisions have not been made on these games. It seems that the initial batch of four titles may just be the beginning of Microsoft’s expansion to other consoles.
