Previewing all the exciting updates coming in Stardew Valley’s 1

Stardew Valley 1.6 is on the horizon, and Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone has been dropping hints about what changes the patch will bring. From a new storage chest to three annual festivals, new items, recipes, extra dialogue, and more, here’s a roundup of all the teases Barone has shared so far.

As we eagerly await the release of Stardew Valley 1.6, Barone has been revealing both major and minor tweaks to the game. Here’s a summary of the updates we know about, with more to come.

Barone teased on Tuesday, March 12, that 1.6 would address a bug where harvesting left-to-right was faster than right-to-left. This issue has been a topic of speculation among players, and it seems like the conspiracy theory was correct.

In another improvement, the area of effect of downward-facing melee attacks has been extended in 1.6. Barone felt that swinging down put players at a disadvantage, prioritizing game feel over precise visual accuracy.

Your pets will now push back against you for a shorter period before you can pass through them, reducing the time from 1.5 seconds to 0.75 seconds. Additionally, spouses will have a seven-day ‘honeymoon’ period after marriage to prevent them from staying in bed all day due to being upset.

Jelly, pickles, wines, and juices will now be colored based on the ingredient item, making item identification easier.
