In 2024, Google announced that it was launching an AI-powered feature for Android Auto that would summarize messages and provide various options while driving to improve safety. The feature would prevent drivers from taking their eyes off the road and help them focus on driving. Recently, Google announced that it had started rolling out the feature, although it did not specify how it was being offered. It is assumed that the feature is available through an update to the Android Auto app on the Google Play Store.

When users update the Android Auto app to the latest version and use it for the first time, they will be prompted to activate the AI-powered feature. Once activated, the feature will play a summary of messages that are over 40 words when the “Play” option is selected. For messages that are under 40 words, the feature will simply read out the message as it is. Additionally, the feature will provide users with various options based on the context of the message, such as relevant replies, as well as the ability to share ETA and live location with the person who messaged them. Google has assured that it will not log any messages or summaries and will not use interactions to train its large language models (LLM).

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, Qualcomm showcased AI running natively on various devices and displayed AI-related solutions developed over the past year. It also highlighted commercially available products that use Qualcomm’s solutions to offer AI features. Samsung recently rolled out a firmware update for the Galaxy S24 series, improving the camera experience and addressing the vividness of the device’s displays. The company is significantly invested in AI and is open to collaborations with other companies, possibly including another major Korean conglomerate.

Although MWC has become more subdued in recent years, Google revealed new features for Android-based phones at the event. Additionally, Google has been offering the YouTube Kids app alongside the YouTube app on various TV platforms and, more recently, integrated YouTube Kids within YouTube on those platforms.

As February 27 marks Pokemon Day, Niantic’s popular mobile game Pokemon Go can be enjoyed on the brand-new Galaxy S24. With spring around the corner, it’s a great time to take the game for a walk and enjoy the warmer weather in the Northern Hemisphere.
