Last year’s Galaxy phones are still a good buy for a few reasons

Earn commissions when you click links to retailers and make purchases. We understand the appeal of having the newest technology, but the key difference between the Galaxy S23 lineup and the Galaxy S24 lineup is the inclusion of Galaxy AI. Currently, One UI 6.1 with Galaxy AI is only available on the latest Galaxy S24 series. However, it was announced earlier this week that this is about to change next month.

In March, the Galaxy S23 series (S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE), as well as Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, are all set to receive the Galaxy AI update. This means that if you’re looking for a new phone and want to save money, purchasing a 2023 Samsung device is not a bad idea. If you’re unsure about Galaxy AI, here’s what you can expect from the update.

Pricing: Samsung’s website currently has promotional trade-in values available, allowing you to save up to $800 on older Galaxy devices. If you don’t have a trade-in, there are also instant savings available, depending on the device. For example, if you have a Galaxy Z Fold 3 as a trade-in and are interested in purchasing a Galaxy Z Fold 4, you can get the new Z Fold 4 for as little as $799. If foldable phones aren’t your preference, the Galaxy S23 Ultra can be purchased for as low as $675.

One thing to consider when purchasing a Galaxy device from 2023 or earlier is software support. Samsung announced this year that the Galaxy S24 series and future devices will receive 7 years of software support. The Galaxy S23 series and older Galaxy Z devices do not have this level of support. However, it’s worth noting that many people do not use their phones for that long, based on the feedback we’ve received.

If having the latest technology isn’t a priority for you, it’s still something to keep in mind.
