HELLDIVERS 2 has limited concurrent players to ‘improve server stability’

In-depth analysis: What could the ultimate character creator look like? Developers of Baldur’s Gate 3, Street Fighter, and Lost Ark share their thoughts.

The team at Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has been working tirelessly to address server issues. They have had to limit concurrent players to around 450,000 to ensure server stability. Despite their efforts to mitigate the causes of these issues, they are still struggling to keep up with the necessary scaling.

In a message posted on the game’s Discord community, the team acknowledged that server-related issues had led to mission payouts failing and players being kicked out of the game. They assured players that they are working around the clock to resolve these issues and have urged those experiencing progression-related problems to restart the game to sync things back up.

Following the announcement of server “capacity issues”, Arrowhead issued an apology and promised a 50% XP and requisition bonus to compensate for incorrect rewards at the end of missions. Despite these efforts, the concurrent Steam count for Helldivers 2 has continued to rise, putting further strain on server stability.

Helldivers 2 has become the biggest Steam launch on PlayStation, with almost 300,000 concurrent users on the PC platform over the weekend. This has surpassed the previous record held by Sony Santa Monica’s God of War reboot.

The game has continued to dominate Steam, surpassing all-time player peaks for GTA5 and Destiny 2. To alleviate the impact of ongoing bugs, Helldivers 2 is offering a bonus XP this weekend.

Digital Foundry has praised Helldivers 2 for delivering a solid and smooth experience on both PS5 and PC. The game offers a range of weapons, and players are eager to unlock them all. However, there are concerns about the stability of the servers in the coming days.

In other news, Baldur’s Gate 3 developers used an award show win to address the state of the industry. Capcom celebrated the 8th anniversary of Street Fighter 5 with an apology, while Nintendo shares dropped following reports of a delay in the release of Switch 2. Additionally, a missing Limp Bizkit mod for Fallout New Vegas has been rediscovered.

As the gaming community continues to grow, Eurogamer welcomes players of all types to join their community. They aim to provide a platform for gamers to connect and share their experiences.

Overall, the gaming industry is experiencing both successes and challenges, and developers are working hard to address these issues and provide the best possible experience for players.
