Kyrie impresses Mavs with left-handed hook shot to defeat Nuggets

Kyrie Irving was surprised to find out that his game-winning buzzer-beater was from 20.1 feet away, making it the second-longest hook shot of the season. This shot gave the Dallas Mavericks a 107-105 victory over the Denver Nuggets. Nuggets coach Michael Malone praised Irving for the shot, acknowledging his talent and skill.

Irving’s previous longest hook shot this season was also an accident, but this time he intended to make the shot with his left hand. He credited his hard work in the gym on his off hand for this spectacular game-winner. Irving’s Mavericks teammates and owner Mark Cuban celebrated with him after the shot.

The game-winning shot came after Irving curled off a screen, caught a pass from Maxi Kleber, and took two left-handed dribbles to create space against Nikola Jokic. Irving’s decision to go with his left hand was instinctual, and he felt the opportunity was there to take the shot.

Even Luka Doncic, known for his difficult shots, was impressed by Irving’s game-winner. Doncic had a strong performance with 37 points in his return to the lineup after missing a game due to injury. Irving finished the game with 24 points and nine assists.

The Mavericks took the lead late in the game, but the Nuggets fought back to tie the game. Irving’s shot sealed the victory for Dallas, who are aiming to avoid the play-in scenario in the Western Conference standings. The win was crucial for the Mavericks, who are in a tight race for playoff positioning.
