Chris Chelios expressed gratitude for being honored by the Chicago Blackhawks, despite it not being his top preference

Chris Chelios had his No. 7 raised to the rafters in an afternoon ceremony at United Center, where the Chicago Blackhawks retired the number he wore during his decade with the team. Chelios expressed his gratitude for the honor and reflected on his career, which included stints with the Detroit Red Wings and the Atlanta Thrashers. He also gave a shoutout to former Blackhawk Patrick Kane, who signed with the Wings in November. The ceremony was attended by family and friends, including former Detroit Pistons player Dennis Rodman. Despite being unable to attend, Chelios’ close friend, Michael Jordan, was there in spirit. Chelios also spoke about his relationship with the Chicago Bulls, who shared the United Center with the Blackhawks. He concluded by expressing his gratitude for his career and the opportunities it provided.
