Ariel Young’s family expresses horror over Britt Reid’s sentence commutation

Missouri governor Mike Parsons recently commuted the sentence of former Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, who was involved in a serious accident while legally impaired. The family of the five-year-old girl who was injured in the accident expressed their outrage at this decision. The attorney representing the girl’s parents stated that they are “horrified” by the governor’s actions and believe that Reid should have served the entire sentence given to him by the judge. The girl’s mother questioned the fairness of the justice system, stating that it seems to favor the privileged over the less fortunate. Reid, the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, will be on house arrest until October 31, 2025, despite being released from prison before completing his full sentence. This incident highlights the disparities in the legal system and the impact of privilege on sentencing outcomes.
