In recent news, the Green Bay Packers bid farewell to Aaron Jones, their long-time running back. However, there’s a chance he might end up playing for the Minnesota Vikings in 2024. According to The Athletic, the Vikings have shown interest in signing the Pro Bowler.

Jones, who is 29 years old, was let go by the Packers on the first day of NFL’s free-agent negotiating period. This came after he turned down a proposed 50% pay cut. He is now free to join any team. The Vikings, on the other hand, released their 2023 starter Alexander Mattison and saw Cam Akers hit free agency this week.

Known for his efficiency on the field, Jones has been a key player in Green Bay’s recent playoff appearances alongside quarterback Jordan Love. During his seven-year tenure with the Packers, he surpassed 1,000 rushing yards three times and accumulated over 8,000 scrimmage yards in his career. However, injuries have sidelined him for multiple games in three of the last four seasons. He was set to earn $12 million in 2024, making him one of the top-paid running backs before his release.

The Packers have already moved on from Jones by signing Josh Jacobs to a reported four-year, $48 million deal. Meanwhile, the Vikings are considering third-year reserve Ty Chandler as their top ball-carrier, but Jones could potentially share the workload if he signs with them.
