The CDC is easing its COVID-19 recommendations as we transition out of winter. Individuals with mild symptoms who test positive no longer need to isolate for five days. However, adults over 65 are encouraged to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves from severe illness. Dr. Mandy Cohen, the CDC Director, emphasized the importance of staying up to date with all recommended vaccine doses to prevent hospitalizations. Despite the decrease in COVID-19 ER visits, flu and RSV hospitalizations remain high. It’s important to remember that COVID-19 is not strictly seasonal like the flu, and can still pose a threat in the coming months. By utilizing the tools available to us, such as vaccines, we can continue to protect each other and reduce the impact of the virus.
