The movie “Bob Marley: One Love” has continued to perform well at the box office for the second consecutive week, outperforming two new releases and maintaining the top spot. The biopic starring Kingsley Ben-Adir brought in $13.5 million in its second week, surpassing Sony’s “Madame Web” which has struggled to attract audiences.
The film, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, has already grossed nearly $72 million domestically, exceeding its production budget of $70 million. It tells the story of the Rastafarian legend Bob Marley during the making of his album “Exodus” and his iconic concert in Jamaica. Despite the age of his music, the film has resonated with audiences, drawing in more revenue than other new releases.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training” placed second at the box office with $11.5 million, while the faith-based film “Ordinary Angels” starring Hilary Swank came in third with an estimated $6.5 million. Both films performed better than “Madame Web,” which only brought in $6 million in its second week.
The upcoming release of “Dune: Part Two” is expected to dethrone “Bob Marley: One Love” from the top spot in the coming weeks. Overall, the box office has been relatively slow, but the highly anticipated release of “Dune: Part Two” is expected to inject new energy into the market.
