Josh Brolin criticizes his past film, vows to never stop criticizing it

Josh Brolin, in an interview with GQ, did not hold back when discussing his 2010 film “Jonah Hex.” The actor expressed his disdain for the movie, calling it a “s—-y f—ing movie” and vowing to continue criticizing it. Brolin starred as the disfigured Confederate soldier turned bounty hunter in the Western superhero flick, which failed to impress both audiences and critics.

The actor has been vocal about his negative feelings towards the project in the past, attributing its lack of success to the director, Jimmy Hayward, whom Brolin felt was inexperienced. Brolin recalled a rushed hiring process for a director, ultimately leading to Hayward taking on the role. The actor criticized Hayward for not approaching the project with the dedication and seriousness it required, opting to party instead of immersing himself in the necessary research and preparation.

Despite his previous harsh comments about the film, Brolin recently revealed that Hayward had apologized for his part in the movie’s failure. The director has been battling a form of bone cancer, which has resulted in facial reconstructive surgeries. This revelation prompted Brolin to reflect on his own behavior and acknowledge that everyone has their own struggles.

In contrast to his negative experience with “Jonah Hex,” Brolin is excited about his upcoming project, “Dune: Part Two.” The actor praised the director and the collaborative atmosphere on set, highlighting the lack of egos among the cast and crew. “When you work with great people, there’s very little ego,” Brolin remarked.

“Dune: Part Two” is set to premiere soon, featuring a star-studded ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and more. Brolin’s positive experience on this project stands in stark contrast to his disappointment with “Jonah Hex,” showcasing the highs and lows of his career in the film industry.
