Jimmy Kimmel reveals he was advised to skip Trump’s post at Oscars

Jimmy Kimmel decided to go against the advice of producers at the Oscars and took the opportunity to read President Donald Trump’s review of his performance. He mentioned that he had an extra minute and wanted to share something with the audience. Kimmel then proceeded to read an excerpt of Trump’s review, where the former president criticized his hosting skills and called the show politically correct.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized Kimmel’s performance and questioned if there had ever been a worse host at the Oscars. Despite being advised against it, Kimmel went ahead and read the post during a post-show interview with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. He mentioned that he was determined to read the tweet, despite backstage advice not to.

The Oscars representatives did not respond immediately to a request for comment on the incident. It is worth noting that Truth Social is Trump’s social media platform, launched after he was banned from Twitter following the events of January 6, 2021. Trump’s account was reinstated after Elon Musk took over Twitter, but his reach and engagement have decreased significantly compared to his previous social media presence.

After reading Trump’s review, Kimmel responded with a joke, poking fun at the former president’s legal troubles. He thanked Trump for watching and joked about whether it was past his jail time. The audience responded with laughter to Kimmel’s witty comeback.
