Celebrities sport trendy hats and try to blend in at Frieze L.A. while art sales boom

The Frieze Los Angeles art fair, which ran until March 3, attracted numerous Hollywood celebrities and art world personalities to a large tent at Santa Monica Airport. Some of the notable attendees included Rob Lowe, Jessica Biel, Will Ferrell, Michael Ovitz, and Owen Wilson. The event felt like a family gathering as guests mingled and admired works from over 95 galleries from around the globe.

The V.I.P. opening day on February 29 was a star-studded affair, with Hollywood insiders like Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, and Luke Wilson chatting with LACMA director Michael Govan. Big names from agencies like Endeavor, CAA, and UTA were also present, with Ari Emanuel, CEO of Endeavor, making the rounds and engaging with guests.

Producer and writer Maria Bell expressed her excitement about the fair, highlighting the sense of community it brings to the Los Angeles art scene. The event also saw the presence of other celebrities like Robert Downey Jr., Leonardo DiCaprio, and John C. Reilly, among others.

The focus of the day was primarily on the art, with collectors and enthusiasts admiring works by established and emerging artists. Sales were brisk, with galleries like Lehmann Maupin and Gagosian reporting successful transactions. The fair also featured parties and events surrounding the main exhibition, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

Frieze Los Angeles opened to the public on March 1 and ran until March 3, alongside other art fairs like Felix and Spring/Break Art Show. Collectors and art enthusiasts from around the world flocked to Los Angeles for what has become known as L.A. Art Week, making it a premier social occasion for the arts community.

The event saw significant sales, with works by renowned artists fetching high prices. Galleries like David Kordansky Gallery, Pt. 2 Gallery, and Vielmetter Los Angeles reported successful sales of artworks by various artists. The fair also featured a partnership with the California African American Museum, with the acquisition of a ceramic work by sculptor Mustafa Clayton Ali.

Overall, Frieze Los Angeles was a successful and vibrant celebration of art, bringing together a diverse range of artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts in a dynamic and engaging environment.
