Frank Slootman steps down as CEO of Snowflake in leadership shake-up

Snowflake CEO Frank Slootman is stepping down from his role, with Sridhar Ramaswamy taking over as the new CEO. Slootman, known for his hard-charging leadership style, led Snowflake through a successful IPO in 2020. He has been compared to Elon Musk for his approach to leadership. Slootman believes in driving intensity among employees and embracing confrontation, which he discusses in his book “Amp It Up.” Despite some controversial statements in the past, Slootman has overseen significant revenue growth at Snowflake. The company recently reported $2.8 billion in revenue for the fiscal year ending Jan. 31. Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway made a rare investment in Snowflake in 2020, further highlighting the company’s success. While Snowflake’s stock price dropped following the announcement of Slootman’s departure, the new CEO will have a strong foundation to build upon.
