DirecTV users across the country are experiencing service disruptions as the company’s team in El Segundo works to address a satellite problem

DirecTV customers across Southern California and the rest of the country have been experiencing widespread outages in their satellite television service. The company, based in El Segundo, California, attributed the outages to a “satellite positioning issue” and assured customers that they could still access their television service through the DIRECTV app on mobile devices or connected TVs, or by activating SignalSaver via an internet connection on a capable set-top box.

Following the outages, multiple customers reached out to complain about their service being out, and expressed frustration over the difficulty in reaching customer service. Eyewitness News received several complaints from Southern California customers, and even ABC7’s newsroom in Glendale experienced outages.

The website Downdetector reported that reports of DirecTV outages began surging just after 2 a.m. PT and spiked higher as the morning proceeded, with issues reported throughout the country. However, the reports of outages began declining after 7 p.m. Tuesday, although the company did not issue any updates on its social media platforms in the evening.

This comes just days after AT&T, DirecTV’s parent company, experienced widespread outages in its cellular coverage due to a software update. The company later offered a $5 credit to impacted customers.

In other news, Richard Lewis, comedian and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ star, has passed away at the age of 76. Additionally, 2 individuals were arrested after breaking into a graffiti-covered high-rise in DTLA. If you have norovirus, doctors advise against doing these 2 things.
