A new game set in the Titanfall universe is reportedly in the works at Respawn Entertainment. The project, which is not Titanfall 3, is said to be in the prototyping phase, according to reports from Giant Bomb. This news comes after Electronic Arts canceled a Star Wars FPS that was in development at the studio.
Last year, Respawn’s Vince Zampella mentioned that a small team was working on developing an original IP at the studio. This team, led by Steve Fukuda, the game director of Titanfall and Titanfall 2, was focused on creating something new and fun.
During a recent episode of Game Mess Mornings, it was suggested that the new project in the Titanfall universe had entered the prototyping phase. While it is described as a ‘Titanfall game’, it’s not Titanfall 3 as fans might expect. The game is still in the early stages of development and the details remain unclear.
Previously, EA had canceled an unannounced Apex Legends game called Titanfall Legends, which was meant to provide a single-player experience within the Titanfall universe. Players would have taken on the role of Apex Legends character Blisk, navigating the world with the titan companion, BT, from Titanfall 2.
The goal was to create a strong connection between Apex Legends and Titanfall, leveraging the popularity of the former to introduce more players to the Titanfall universe. However, the project was ultimately scrapped.
Overall, it seems that Respawn Entertainment is exploring new opportunities within the Titanfall universe, but fans will have to wait for more details as the project progresses.
