Xavi’s side secured a big win by going second. Raphinha returned to the starting XI for the first time since recovering from injury, and he was able to get some revenge on Getafe. He scored the opener and was in excellent form throughout the game. He also provided an assist for Frenkie de Jong. It was a good day for Raphinha, who looked far better after the break.
Pau Cubarsi was also back in the starting XI and performed well against Getafe. He was one of the best players on the pitch and helped Barcelona to a much-needed clean sheet. Cubarsi’s emergence is a massive boost for Xavi’s side.
Barcelona’s win moved them up into second place in the table. Xavi hasn’t given up hope of pipping Madrid to top spot just yet. Retaining the title still looks a very distant dream for Barcelona, but there’s no doubt that Saturday’s win over Getafe has the team feeling the best it has in a long time.
